Rage of the forest spirits

Rage of the forest spirits

A recap of the first part of the war for the Whitebark Clan Glade:

Corruption and chaos spreads across the realms by the tides of unified Chaos forces, many would say this was the end of prosperity forever.

Many had fallen or even tainted by the taints of the laughing gods cursed influences. Even legends of old were no match in the Age of Chaos.

However, some have not yet given up hope for the lands they protect and sacrificed for. Especially the Whitebark Clan, who have guarded their sacred glade home for centuries, even if it’s now half the size of the once bountiful and vibrant woodland that it used to be.

But as the saying goes, all things must come to an end, Clan Skelnix was the hammer that ended the stronghold. A great defeat at the hands of Scarrus the Right Claw ensured victory from his attempt at opening the Wormhole for his master, Verminlord Sektretch

Duke Cuirithir retreated, dragging his broken ally treeman back to the glade household, unable to stop the ritual. Only this isn’t the end for the Whitebark Clan, as the Duke retreated from the scene, his eyes and spirit flared with unstoppable rage like a ignition of some sort of deeper energies within him. He may have lost the stronghold, but not his home, not until he rips the Warlord with his own iron bark claws without mercy.

It’s time for nature to strike back at the Chaos tainted creatures and restore the realm to it’s purer life.

This is the sylvaneths war, and no mercy will be offered.

War for Ghyran: part two coming soon

War for Ghyran: part two coming soon

After Thursdays climatic result from the campagin game on round three, I can now start writing part two! So I thought I might give you guys the current campagin score and Warband rewards we’ve got from part one.

The campagin was about the Skaven defending a Wormhole gate, adding up the dice (with modifiers) each turn until it reached twenty to win. The Sylvaneths task was to reach the Wormhole gate and destroy it before it reached twenty.

The game finished off with the skaven winning a grand victory, earning victory paints up to 3. I’ve rewarded my Arch-warlock, who was rewarded with a re-roll wound   Saves (the unit chart didn’t seem to fit right with the model, so I agreed with my opponent that the model will use the champion chart instead). The Sylvaneth however only revived one point from the game, and the Treelord ancient was rewarded from the champion chart.

After I’ve finished writing part two, I’ll also do a post on the games battleplan, scores and rewards to show what the gameplay resulted in. Also, I might add some reflective aftermath thoughts on the battle, as it’s good to analyse on what went well and what needed improving.

Anyway, I think that’s all I needed to say for now, although I could boast about how amazing my Arch-Warlock was during round one. But it doesn’t reflect him well currently in the campagin, he’s been squished to death by two angry Treemen. I’ll elaborate on this for another day.

Thanks for reading this post, if you have any questions, post a comment below and I’ll reply back as soon as I can. Thank you!

The World-that-was: The end

Finally, the door way to sanctuary is here! I’ll be safe here, away from this dying world forever, to make new plans yes-yes. Make a new world for the glory of the Horned Rat, his world in Pestilens.

I tricked all my kin so that I may leave alive, they would do little to be of any use. Too simple minded to understand the concept of rebuilding the Pestilens path, too thick-thick.

I’m about to enter the gate, to leave this befallen land to my new world. Wait, who, what….! Who are you? Wait!………..

– Verminlord Corrupter Sektretch, last words before taken into oblivion by The Horned Rat.

Present day: Realm of Ghyran, Tree lord Duke Cuirithir counter attack

It happend from out of the blue, a Warband force of Sylvaneth came out from the forest like shades in the shadow. Their leader, Treelord Duke Cuirithir roared his oaken lungs as a war cry that he used to challenge the enemy. he came out of the left side of the forest, keeping his distance from nearby Skaven.

On the right side, The Tree Revenants came as a honoury guard, followed by their second in command Treelord Guardian Alduinian. They came in with stern determination to swipe away anything that’s in their path, and tear down the ritual before it too late.

A swarm of giant rats came charging into Duke Cuirithir, but they were inevitably been stomped into a meat paste. A second group of giant rats charged at Guardian Alduinian, but they met the same fate as well. The attack seemed cowardly, even more cowardly than usual for the wretched rat-thing standard. Something wasn’t right.

Suddenly, on the scaffolding that’s blocking the path to the ritual architecture, an armoured Rat came climbed on to of the scaffolding. He laughed madly as he sent a missile wizzing from his gauntlet into the Tree Revenant unit. A few died, but stayed strong from the attack.

They tried to rip him apart with their blades, but they only graze wound the wizard. In return, he casted a small warpstorm, ripping apart the resilient warriors into nothing more than atomised charcol. The war started to favour the Clan Skelnix, the ritual is now half completion.

Treelord Guardian Alduinian roared in rage as his kin were crushed by the small warpstorm. He saw the wretched rat smirk in joy as the brave warriors died, like they did in the World-that-was. He charged in, swinging his Talons at the wizard in rageful outbursts.

Letrix went into a crazy fits of insanity as he clenched his paw, summoning a warpstorm by the arcane knowledge of Skaven magic. He felt the flow of the spell coursing through his warped engine power armour, fueling the spell to full capacity. The pressure of the spells magnitude made Letrix chatter madly, as if it was winter.

The Treelord saw the rat-thing commence his spell, and decided that it should strike at the thing before the spell could be unleashed. Using its sharp talon, the Treelord came close to striking the rat-things beating heart. But sadly, the mad Arch-Warlock was too cunning for the Treelord, and unleashed its spell. A warpstorm appeared like a dark green gargantuan twister, summoned from the cracks of the void.
It shredded the iron oak from the Treelords skin, making it vunrable to penetrate with ease. Tossing him into the air like a ragdoll, the Treelord roared into the sky. As he got higher and higher, it was hit by flying derby in the warpstorm. Then, all of a sudden the storm disappears, without the acceleration of the storm, the wounded Treelord fell back down to the ground with a thud.
The Sylvaneth guardian could regenerate itself easily, but even then it knew that the mad rat-thing would end it before it could have the chance. Unless……it could maybe impale it with enough willpower from the spirits! The forest spirits whispered into the Treelords mind, building his strength to finally put an end to this wretched rat-thing.

Letrix came up to the Treelord, looking at it with a satisfaction as it laid on the ground with exhaustion. He aimed his warplock pistol at the Sylvaneth creature, claw ready to pull the trigger. “Time to burn stick-stick thing, hehehehe!” Said the crazy Arch warlock as he was about to fire.

Suddenly, the Treelord roared as he summoned the earth to rumble, like a sudden earth quake from the undergrowth. Then a mass bundle of sharp roots from the ground came shooting out, aiming straight for the cold fearful gaze of the Arch-Warlocks beating heart!

Letrix’ heart stopped beating as the pireced wound dripped constantly. He dropped his warplock pistol, he gurgled with blood as he was released from the air, and fell through the scaffolding. A loud thud came, as the rat laid on the floor, in puddles of his own blood.
Just as Treelord Alduinian sighed in relief for his killing blow, he felt a sharp pain through his chest. He looked down to see that a throwing star had pireced through his oaken skin. As he turned, he saw three shadowy rats in cloaks of shadows throwing their stars at him.

He realised, that the wizard was a decoy, merely a means to an end for the assassins to kill him when he wasn’t looking. As the third wave of stars flew, it pierced his vital organs with effective precision. He fell with a frown of pain as the wound was too much to ignore. The Treelord fainted on the battlefield, to weak to fight on for his kin.

The Greyseer however was watching the battle on top of his bell, when he should be in the fight itself! He sat on the Screaming Bell eating some warp, nuggets as if he was spectating a coliseum battle. The Stormvermin were tired of the stalling, they wanted to join the fight and win new trophies. But alas, they were told by Scarus to guard the bell, so they stayed in agony at the expense of a lunatic seer on warpstone.

Meanwhile, the fullcrux of the ritual was about to be completed, as Cuirithir knew all to well that he failed. The Warlords energy was absorbed into a gem of warpstone, shining brightly in the dusk of sun set.

The Treelord roared in rage, for he had lost this battle against the enemy, and must brunt the shame on his shoulders. He left, seeing no reason to stay and die in vain, he went towards to his fallen kin, and dragged Alduinian away from the battlefield.

As he left, a small leaf fluttered in front of him. He outstretched his hand as the leaf landed on his oak palm. The leaf was amber orange like sun set, it was dying on his palm. “Chaos is poisoning the the glade…..” he thought as he strided on into the darkness of the forest, his eyes flared bright with pure rage. He will make sure the next battle will see the rat-things decimated into nothingness.

At the ritual Wormhole gate

Scarus laughed his chittering teeth loudly as the gate imploded into itself, revealing a sickly red veil that faintly outlined a tall tower in the veils distance. He heard a cacophony of millions of rats pouring out of the gate, like a wave of living flesh.

As the minions exited the Wormhole, a humongous creature exited the gate. A demigod of mass proportion overshadowed Scarus like a titan, walking the realm of mortals. This demigod was none other than the wise Corrupter himself, Sektretch!

Scarus turned to see his master, and bowed to him immediately in prayer. “Master, we have secured a frontier as you requested. Many have died, but we held firm-firm” said Scarus with a grin on his wretched face. Sektretch looked at his underling with satisfaction, he had seen the battle himself through his veil orb. “Well done Right Claw” said Sektretch in a deep raspy voice. “You have completed the first of many tasks, though I’d thought that you yourself would of at least tried to fight alongside your warriors. But none of less, I’m surprised of your achievement, Scarus”.

Scarus hailed this as a sign that he was getting closer to his goal, a step close to being the next successor. But right now, he needed to take the Sylvaneth glade hold for his master, and see to it that the Treelord Ancient was destroyed for good!

War of Ghyran: part 1- The Wormhole Gate (1/2)

Welcome, reader, to the first part in an epic tale of two factions, fighting for their chance to find glory in a war that will decidetheir  fates. The Whitebark Clan seeks to keep its homeland from becoming tainted and befouled by Chaos, protecting the spirits with resilient defiance. Whilst Clan Skelnix seeks to tear the forest glades down to build their new frontier base in the Realm of life.

Today, in part one we see the first contact between Clan Skelnix and the Whitebark Clan, as they prepare to make war with each other.

I present the War of Ghyran campagin, enjoy!

During the Age of Chaos; Realm of Ghyran~

The Treelord Ancient stood in silents as he saw a glowing light in the distant behind the forest, like a rising golden sun in the distant. But this wasn’t the sun rising, no, it was in the wrong direction to rise. Instead it was the glow of doomsday, chaos has arrived.

Duke Cuirithir clenched his staff, rage boiling inside of him like molten lava. He sensed his loved ones screaming in pain, constantly tormented by the pain of being on fire. He then realised what was happening, the horizon was a forest fire, his homeland was in flames! Blazing across the bountiful forests in the realm of life, like an on coming sea wave.

He couldn’t save them, no, they were already gone by the ashes. He felt the forests pain, the thudding pain of fires intensive heat. Duke Cuirithir roared his lungs out as the voices got louder and louder in his mind. Chaos has won, the grand alliance was defeated, and all hope was lost.

But he hadn’t given up hope, he was iron oak born from the Whitebark Clan, descendent of the Ironbark Clan. He was born to defend when others couldn’t, he would charge into battle, destroying those who would disobey the laws of life, and be punished dearly.

He turned away from the blazing light, and walked back into the darkness of the untouched side of the forest. As he left, he could still hear the cries of his kin being burnt to ashes, like tormented ghosts in limbo. This would echo in his mind, reminding him of what failure would be if he let his land be overrun. He went into the dark forest to his woodland grove, there was much planning to be done if they are to survive this age of misery and sorrow.

Present day, during the start of the Age of Sigmar; Realm of Ghyran~

Near the still surviving forest lands of the Whitebark Clan, a small sickly green light appeared near the outskirts of the forest. It glowed like a torch light, than expanded in size until it was as big as a gargantuan maw. It was a rip through the time continuum, like a wounded scar in reality being opened up. The green crack of the Wormhole began to shake, it was unstable, very unstable.

A mass of rat-things scurried out of theWormhole, sensing the destabilisation of the gateway. The last to come out was a humongous toiling bell tower, ringing rusty screeches for each ring. The rest of the group that didn’t make it out were trapped forever as the Wormhole closed. They were probably stuck in the time continuum forever, never to be seen again. The Warband had lost half its soldiers due to the Greyseers wretched Screaming Bell being a pain to push quick enough.

Warlord Scarus, the Right Claw, irritated by this set back looked up to the Greyseer with impatient anger. “I told you Grey-Greyseer to hurry up, but you never listen!” Whined Scarus as he accused the Seer of his unavoidable failure to hurry. The Greyseer stared at his master with his glareing red eyes, looking at him with a deceptive smirk on his face. “You wouldn’t question me, young one, for the Horned Rat favours me more than you! Accusing me is to accuse our master himself, isn’t that so, Scarus?”.

Scarus’s face twitches as his advisor was right, he was always right. He let go of the argument, as he couldn’t face the Horned Rat from fear of being eaten alive. He spoke to his advisor in reply to his unholy statement, “Alright, but be a nusence to me again-again, and Lord corrupter Sektretch will deal with your failure!”. The Greyseer gulped, he feared the Verminlord as much as he feared his unholy patron, for Sektretch was fear and disease incarnate. Defying his orders is to defy a demigod!

The seer scurried on behind his bell, and screeched to the Stormvermin to push the bell. The regiment started pushing the bell with they claws, advancing the humongous bell forwards. They grunted and cursed as they pushed and heaved with each step they take.

Scarus went to a small arcane temple arch, this would be a perfect place to start the ritual to open a more stable Wormhole. For his master needs to send his horde to the realm to establish a new frontier base. The warlord stepped near the archway to start the ritual, he spoke gibberish Skaven language as his very essence was being drained slowly into the archway.

He felt his energy weaken, but he tasted the air of victory coming close, he only needed enough time to complete the ritual. Then, if he is succeful, he’ll be granted the honour of being ranked as the master warlord of the entire Clan. He smirked with joy as he imagined his prize come closer to realisation within his grasp.

Present day, in the woodland glades of the Whitebark Clan~

Duke Cuirithir awoke from his deep slumber, the nightmare kept repeating itself every sunfall, the day his homeland was burning. He could still hear the screams in his mind, wailing and screaming in agony as fresh as the day he heard them. They weren’t weakening his mind, but making it resilient and focused to do his duty to protect is kin. He came out of the regenerative sleeping sack with ease, feeling energised for a new day.

He went through the oaken halls of the main chamber, where his kin debated on what they should do for advancing the war front. But unlike most days, they seemed agitated than normal, as if something was bothering them deeply. The Branchwych known as Matriarch Whiltierna, tried to call peace on her kin for their agitated arguments. She saw her lord and bowed before him as he approached her. He looked at her with a grime look on his face and said with a deep groaning voice “Warsinger, what’s going on? Why are the council being agitated?”.

Whiltierna replied to her master back with a soft and delicate tone “we have heard the spirits displeasure of an incursion outside our forest realm. They say they feel pain from a befouled ritual that’s taken place, by the rat-things”. The Treelord Ancient grunted as he heard the news, he hated the rat-things with disgust. They were defilers of nature, born from treachery and self egotistical minded to care for their environment.

“Tell Guardian Alduinian to ready the Kinsmen for war immediately, this is a threat to our survival as well as our homeland” said The Treelord Ancient with a stern and informative tone. Whiltierna nodded at her lord in reply, and paced off to inform the Treelord with effective speed. Duke Cuirithir turned to look at the sky on the exposed circular open roof, dark clouds were forming above the sky like dark shadows in the sky. As they formed into a mass dark clouds that blocks the sun light, rain starts to pour down.

The Duke took this as a sign of war to come, the rain patters of the drumbeats that herald the war to come. Like many wars before, the Sylvaneth of the Whitebark clan won every battle to defend their home, but at a heavy price of many lives lost. But today, this wasn’t like any battle, for this was not just some mindless barbarian arrack or a small band of Nurgle preachers. No, this was far more concerning, for the spirits are in pain, and that’s a sign of something terrible coming…….

Tomorrow, a campagin begins.

Tomorrow, a campagin begins.

Thirteen days ago, I posted a count down post for the days left when the AoS campagin story for ‘The War of Ghyran’ will begin. A few weeks back I’ve been posting both backstorys of the factions, (both by me and contributions by my friend) that will be part of this chronicle for the Path to Glory!

Now, the time is nearly upon us for an epic story to be told of two factions, the Whitebark Clan and Clan Skelnix. One seeks to protect their dying homeland from the enemy of nature, whilst the other seeks to establish a new frontier for verminous deeds.
Excited? Your in luck, below is a small extract from tomorrow’s big post, which gives a small glimpse at what’s to come. Enjoy!

Letrix went into a crazy fits of insanity as he clenched his paw, summoning a warpstorm by the arcane knowledge of Skaven magic. Enjoyed the small extract story? If so, check back tomorrow when I’ll be posting a big mammoth blog post on part one in the chronicle campagin of ‘The War of Ghyran’.
I look forward to seeing how this will go, fingers crossed that it’ll go well! 🙂

13 days to go…..

13 days to go…..

It’s nearly here, the first part to the War of Ghyran, based one me and my friends Path to Glory campagin. Whilst many of you will know of the backstorys of our factions that we will be playing, for those who don’t know, I’ve put two brief backstory’s for both factions below

The Whitebark Clan

The war on Ghyran has taken its toll, many Sylvaneth warriors are suffering from Nurgles ever growing Pestilens of corruption. But many have stood in the face of annihilation, those few who have the courage, resilients, willpower, strength and determination to defy their fates. This is also very prominent to the Whitebark Clan, seedlings of the Ironbark Clan, iron hearted warriors who will sacrifice themselves to fulfil their roles to protect the realm of life. They protect their glade property from any intruders, if they fail to protect it, then annihilation is one step closer to fufillment.

Clan Skelnix

However, Clan Skelnix might achive this villainous deed. Hailing from the realm of Ghurr, the Clan is formed from many Skaven sub factions into one great host. Led by the demigod Sektretch, the Clan are known to be masters of naval warfare and scout raidings. They are cruel, devious, untrustworthy and egotistical. Whilst they might be lords of the seas, but are they prepared to take on the lords of the glade lands?

Did I mention they’ll be some narrative art for the series? If that’s made you curious on what’s install for the series, here’s a sneak peek at one of part ones illustration art.

Curious to know who or what this creature is? Well in thirteen days time, all will be revealed……

I hope this upcoming blog post series will interest anyone to try out their own campagin narrative story’s, or even a campaign blog series that they want to share and express their passion for the hobby.

If you have any questions, post a comment below and I’ll reply as soon as I can. Thank you!
