Red helms of the Skullfiend Tribe (update!)

sorry for the crap photos, I couldn’t find a suitable background and flat surface to take a photo of this lot. I really need to start using my painting table as a photo area (if I ever stop painting).

It’s been quite awhile now since I’ve shown my Skullfiend Tribe Collection, which has now grown a lot more to become a full fighting match play army. I’ve painted more models including 20x Bloodreavers, 10x Chaos Warriors (with mark of Khorne) and currently painting more Bloodreavers and Blood Warriors. The latter will be added into the two existing units, which will double the size to 10x Blood Warriors and 40x Bloodreavers.

With only two more units and two Hero models left to paint (one Bloodstoker and Aspiring Deathbringer), I’ve nearly reached the end of this collection. All that’s left after finishing my current tasks are to get a Mighty Lord of Khorne on a Juggernaut and a unit of Mighty Skullcrushers to finish off the mortal side of the army.

I don’t intend to add anymore models to the army for the mortal side after that, as I’m satisfied with what Ive got. I feel that this collection has run its course that’s now losing steam and enthusiasm for me, I want to move on to projects from my back log or projects that give me a sense of adventure and enjoyment. The Bloodbound to me is great to start off with, but easily loses it’s appeal once the painting the core units like the Blood Warriors and Bloodreavers.

I’ve never liked painting core Troop units unless it’s a small unit number, or the design is interestingly paint despite the unit size. I think it’s because of this that I’ve stayed away from my other projects like my Skaven, Dark Elves, Maggotkin of Nurgle and of Course Khorne Bloodbound armies. It’s because I have loads of deep ranks of infantry (I’m looking at you Clan Skelnix!) that pushes me away, which is why I’ve had more success painting my Stormcast Eternals and Chaos Space marine Nurgle collections.

It might be just because I’m lazy, or just too incompetent, but I can paint a few infantry units from time to time if my motivation is high.

Well that’s all from me, a short post but it’s a sign that I’m still working on this army (at a slow pace). Fingers crossed I might finally get five more Blood Warriors done for next week!
