Accept the truth and sacrifice your soul to the young god

Today I have a short post on what I’ve done with my small but reasonably fun side project, The Emperors Children warband. For the past few weeks I’ve had two Knight Armiger Helverin’s painted along with a few kitbashed models, one of which is a unit of proper sized Chaos space marines.

Like all squads of Chaos space marines there has to be a champion to lead his men into battle, out of self indulgent glory or wicked spite for attention. I wanted my Chaos Champion to physically look more dominating than his men, as well as kitbash more exquisite decorations from aristocracy.

The Emperors Children champion is equipped with a Plasma pistol, a power claw (a mutated one for sure) and a Siren upgrade in form of two bestial bronze hounds.

I’m more interested in kitbashing Primaris space marines now that my Emperors Children project has opened a lot of ideas for kitbashing. The scale works really well when compared to a guardsman, and Cultists too! Imagine kitbashing a unit of Reivers as skull horned Chosen marines, or if your creative, kitbash raptor jet packs onto the Reivers.

I’ve seen a lot of talented hobbyists make some impressive Chaos space marine kit bashes using Primaris marines. It’s a great way of having a ten man squad of C.S marines as an alternative to the current outdated C.S marines kit. However, if your a lore minded person, the MKX armour might be off putting as it’s far more sleeker than the bulky design of past Adeptus Astartes armour marks. But you can always use green stuff and spare bitz to make some lore accurate armour.

Today is mortal hunting, as the trumpets were raised to announce a knightly hunt for more ‘materials’ for tonight’s banquet.

Since the start of my summer of hobby painting, I’ve painted quite a few Slanneshi models (photo above is the latest showcase of what I’ve done so far). What started out as a crazy idea to build a small Knight House collection, turned into a disorganised lot of Slanneshi devotees.

I’ll be honest and say that if AoS 2.0 hadn’t been released this month, I would have stuck to my original plans of capping this collection off with a renegade knight. However, this turned out to be a positive change as I’ve actually gotten more black log work done.

I’m currently painting 19x Cultists with Autoguns to be added to the collection, since I want them to be finally painted and done with after so many years of neglect. Then another 19x cultist will be added as a second unit once the first is done, and finally any other unused models might be added. I might possibly add two more marines (kitbashed) to finish my Noise marine squad, as well as a HQ leader to represent the army.

Since this project is more of a side project, as well as just getting rid of neglected models, I’m not planning on continuing with this collection with new models or expanding it once my Summer holiday is over. I just don’t want to commit to another big project when I’ve got less time now that College is over. My goal is to try and get as much neglected models painted (with the Armiger knights being inspiration to get me started for the project), and achieve having no more neglected Chaos space marine models left).

However, it’s nice to do side projects once in a while as a break from bigger ones that take a lot of care and attention to complete. Speaking of which, I’ve just recently finished my final unit of Paladins (Decimators) for my Stormcast Eternal (1/3) Warrior Chamber. A post will be coming out soon to elaborate more on that as well as future plans for the collection soon.
