The Serapharc shuddered and screeched as it sailed through the warpstorms of the imaterium. Warp entity’s scratched and screamed against the ships Gilli field, clawing towards their prey like savage animals. Any attempts to claim fresh kill was useless, as the ships shield kept the entity’s at bay from it’s passengers.

This ancient battle barge was the home of one of the many Black Templar crusade fleets, under the command of Marshal Sorvan of the Darkstar crusade. The crusade they had currently been tasked with was a disaster, half the crusade force had been wiped out by renegade forces of the Lords of the Harbinger, who serve the vile taints of the plague God.

The decision to abandon the crusade was a shameful choice on Sorvans part, for he wanted to purge these heretics to the last astartes in the name of the God Emperor of mankind. However, abandoning the crusade was a blessing from the Emperor himself, for the fleet was interrupted during the crusade by a message from holy Terra, they were to meet the nearest planet in the Sol system for an important briefing  and reinforcements.

Right now, the Marshal can only pray that his ship might survive this hellish realm, and live to fight back the heretics that dare mock him.

Welcome back to part three of my continuing series on my 8th edition collection. This time I have completed a whole unit of Sword brethren (2nd veteran company).

Yes, I know the “2” numeral on the sergeants pole is slightly off, couldn’t move it due to the transfer being stuck in place. But it looks alright overal.

Asterlore, 2nd Sword Brethren squad.

Sven ‘old born’, 2nd Sword Brethren squad.

Dicalinar, 2nd Sword Brethren squad sergeant.

Sinderval, 2nd Sword Brethren squad.

Halvax, 2nd Sword Brethren squad.

I’ve enjoyed painting this unit, even though it took me longer than planned to get completed painting. It’s a good break from painting AoS models, since as of late I’ve been trying to get a fully painted Khone alliance army.

My only criticism for this unit is the eye lenses being a difficult task to paint right, and the colour scheme being too similar to the Ravern Guard tactical marines (I couldn’t find any white icons of Black Templars chapter symbol transfer). But apart from these set backs, I’m pleased with the overal presentation for this unit.

Next time, I’ll be painting my first tactical squad for the force, as well as revealing what Sorvan will find out once his fleet reaches the Sol system. I hope to see you guys again soon for part 4! 🙂

The Black Templars of the Darkstar crusade prepare themselves for the dark path that is set before them, when they find out what Gulliman has install for them……
